The homestead house built by Nathan Smith and his wife Jane Sant Smith was moved from their farm to the Banida Ward property. A shelter was built over the top of the home to protect it from the elements.
The original Banida Ward building was replaced with a newer building in about 1952. In about 1980 the Banida Ward was combined with the Winder Ward, about 5 miles south of Banida. Shortly after that the Banida Ward building was torn down and the property given to the Banida Village. A park and playground now stand in place of the building. The Nathan Smith home still stands on the park grounds, but is now being used as a storage shed for the village.
I stopped by Banida on June 11, 1997 and took several pictures of the Nathan Smith Home.
